The sportman called Dara Singh

Dara Singh- wrestler actor and a sombre being

Are you a fan of Undertaker or say even John Cena? Or do you like the ultimate wrestler cum charmer
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and cite him to be amongst one of your favourites? Well, do you?

If so, then you must be a fan of wrestling and if you are then you must be drowning in misery and
lamenting your heart out for today is the day when India lost its very own He-Man. Yes, the celebrated
pro wrestler and veteran Indian actor Dara Singh passed away earlier today leaving behind a lifetime of
achievements in athletics as well as in films.

Born in Punjab to a Jat Sikh family, Dara Singh was encouraged to study Pehlwani from an early age
due to his massive physique. There began the journey of Dara Singh, a boy from the fields on Punjab
ultimately became “ Rustam E Hind.” He represented India in various wrestling tournaments around
the world and won several major events. He competed against some of the greatest names in the world
of wrestling and can boast to have given stiff competition to the likes of King Kong, John Desilva and
George Gordienko. He had toured all across the globe making a name for himself and for the country.
Dara Singh retired from wrestling in the year 1983 and in 1996 was inducted into the Wrestling Observer
Newsletter Hall Of Fame.

As long as he lived he was a truly inspirational figure and in spite of an overwhelming frame, Dara Singh
had a heart of gold. People loved him and that one can understand by the way India is grieving at his
demise. Dara Singh might be gone but an Indian name which has been making impact in the domain of
wrestling and power lifting in the recent times is that of The great Khali. He is already a star wrestler and
has even made his debut in movies. As it seems, he has already embarked on a similar journey. Will he
be able to fill the void that the demise of Dara Singh has created? That is something only time will tell.
